Issues: Public Safety & Safer Streets
Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Neighborhood Safety
Glendale should be a city where families feel safe walking to school, seniors feel safe crossing the street, and residents feel comfortable driving in their own neighborhoods. But too many people are frustrated — and rightfully concerned — about reckless driving, speeding, street racing, and dangerous intersections.
Public safety is not political. It’s a quality-of-life issue, and it demands real leadership, modern solutions, and accountability.
Safe neighborhoods. Safer streets. Real consequences.
Glendale must take reckless driving seriously. I will support focused enforcement, modern real-time tools, and stronger consequences for repeat offenders to make our streets safer for families, seniors, and students.
Let’s get Ronnie elected.
What Glendale Residents Are Experiencing
Across Glendale, residents are reporting:
These issues don’t just feel unsafe — they are unsafe
Excessive speeding on major streets and neighborhood cut-throughs
Racing and reckless driving at night
Aggressive behavior behind the wheel
Dangerous intersections and ignored stop signs
Too many near-misses involving pedestrians, cyclists, and families
Why I’m Prepared to Lead on Public Safety
I have worked closely with Glendale’s last two Police Chiefs, learning how public safety must be navigated through community trust, responsible enforcement, and clear communication. I understand the balance between supporting law enforcement and ensuring residents’ concerns
are addressed.
I have also proudly served on the Glendale Police Foundation, where I’ve supported the department — including helping specifically with the K9 Unit, which plays an important role in public safety and crime prevention.
This experience matters because it means I’m not approaching public safety from a distance. I’m engaged, informed, and ready to lead responsibly.
Core Principle
One reckless driver can change a life forever. Prevention, enforcement, and accountability
must be taken seriously.
My Plan to Reduce Reckless Driving and Speeding in Glendale
1) Focus Enforcement Where It Matters Most
Traffic enforcement must be concentrated on the streets and times where the risk is highest.
I will support:
1) High-visibility enforcement on chronic speeding corridors
2) Focused patrols during high-risk hours (evenings, weekends, late nights)
3) Deployment based on collision data and resident complaints
Goal: Reduce dangerous driving through consistent enforcement and real consequences.
2) Use Modern Technology for Faster Response and Accountability
Reckless driving has changed — and Glendale must use modern tools to respond faster and
prevent tragedies.
I will push for Glendale to expand responsible use of tools such as:
1) Live traffic monitoring cameras in high-risk areas
2) Smart enforcement tools that improve response time
3) Exploring legal and responsible use of drones for public safety support during major problem periods
This is not about spying on residents.
It’s about addressing dangerous behavior where residents are repeatedly reporting serious risk.
3) Educate the Public to Prevent the Next Tragedy
Enforcement alone isn’t enough. Prevention matters — especially for younger drivers.
I will support:
1) Town hall meetings on reckless driving and speeding
2) Community outreach with Glendale PD
3) Short educational videos distributed through City and community platforms
4) Public messaging that clearly shows the real-world consequences of reckless driving
Like the old days, the message must be clear:
Speeding is not “just a ticket” — it can destroy lives.
4) Real Consequences for Repeat and Extreme Offenders
Glendale must send a clear signal: reckless driving will not be tolerated.
I will advocate for:
1) Stronger penalties for extreme speeding and racing behavior
2) Vehicle impoundment when legally appropriate
3) A focus on stopping repeat offenders who put others at risk again and again
5) Protect School Zones and Pedestrian Areas
Children, seniors, and families must come first. I will support: 1) Strong traffic presence near schools during peak times 2) Safer crosswalks, lighting, and visibility improvements 3) Coordinating with schools and neighborhood groups to identify hazards
Responsible Use of Technology
Any use of cameras, monitoring tools, or drones must be implemented lawfully, transparently, and with clear safeguards. I support technology that targets high-risk areas and repeat dangerous behavior, not invasive surveillance. All tools must follow applicable laws, protect civil rights, respect privacy standards, and include public reporting so residents understand how and where enforcement is being used.
My Commitment
My commitment as your City Councilmember, I will treat reckless driving and speeding like the serious threats they are — and I will fight for solutions that deliver results.
Glendale deserves:
- Safer streets and safer neighborhoods
- Focused enforcement and smarter response tools
- Better prevention through public education
- Real accountability for dangerous and repeat offenders
Protect families. Reduce danger. Make Glendale safer.
